TOILE de EAST L.A.
Toile de East L.A. Art Seriograph Print.
Inspired by East Los Angeles and detailed toile fabrics of Europe. East L.A. life is just as beautiful and deserving of fine tapestries. No? I think so. This is the first design, of several created. Graphically illustrating the Mexican/Chicano quinceañera tradition in Los Angeles. This is my experience and observations of the quinceañera tradition. I've worn a bright pink quinceañera dress. For reals.
Original graphic design was created for an art exhibition, on fabric. Years later I was given an opportunity to turn the design into a 2 color print for Self Help Graphics & Art.
Created as a part of Self Help Graphics & Art's COMMUNICATION THREADS & ENTWINED RECOLLECTIONS (Atelier LV), Curated by Victoria Delgadillo and acquired from Self Help Graphics & Art professional Printmaking Program by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Archives' Prints and Drawing Department.
Print is a larger than traditionally printed format, with a very limited quantity of 40 prints.
